The AH is the fifth generation of the Astra. It was launched in November 2004, and was ended in April 2009 when imports were suspended. At the time, Holden cited a number of reasons for this, including a perceived poor resale value, build quality, and currency fluctuations.
Like the TS before it, the Astra AH was a rebadged Opel Astra manufactured in Europe. While the 5 door hatch was the only body initially introduced, it was soon joined by a wagon, 3 door hatch, and convertible.
The convertible and SRi were introduced in 2007 with a new engine of a 2.2 litre, 100 kilowatt, petrol engine, and a choice of 6 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission.
